EXPRESS ASPHALT OUTPERFORMS
HEALTH & SAFETY TARGETS IN STOKE
Employees at Express Asphalt, based at City Road,
Fenton in Stoke on Trent, are celebrating a health and safety landmark,
having recorded more than 1,500 days with no lost-time accidents
or incidents.
Express Asphalt offers a fast and efficient asphalt
collection and delivery service, supplying local authorities, utility
reinstatement contractors, local surfacing and construction companies
and pavers in and around the Stoke on Trent area. It employs four
people at its Stoke branch who concentrate on servicing the predominantly
collect trade, focusing on high levels of customer service and providing
a one-stop shop facility for customers.
The plant is successfully working towards targets
set by the business as part of the Health & Safety Commission’s
‘Hard Targets’ initiative which aims to cut the number
of accidents in the aggregates industry.
Area Business manager, Chris Currie, said: “The
team at Stoke has continued to demonstrate its sound commitment
and excellent attitude towards health and safety. They are a close-knit
team who continually place great emphasis on each other’s
safety as well as that of contractors and customers. They are an
excellent example to the rest of our business.”
Express Asphalt has a network of plants throughout
the UK, including 11 in the Midlands region, which are easily accessible
by transport networks and carefully located to reduce travelling
times for local customer collections. All plants can produce small
loads of asphalt, minimising waiting times, and are designed to
facilitate quick and efficient loading.
