EXPRESS ASPHALT PROVIDES ‘DAM’ GOOD SOLUTION

A recent project undertaken by Express Asphalt in Doncaster for Sheffield-based Hesselberg Hydro highlights the company’s technical expertise and its ability to meet customer’s problems with the right solution.

The asphalt supplier, which focuses on the collection or supply of smaller quantities of asphalt, worked closely with Hesselberg Hydro, a specialist in the application of asphalt in hydraulic engineering and dam builders, to provide the right mix of asphalt materials to line the edges of Rivelin Dam in Sheffield. The products were needed to prevent large stone blocks used to construct the banks of the dam being removed by vandals.

Commenting, Dave Shaw, Business Manager for Express Asphalt, said: “The materials required for the dam were approx 100t of lean sand asphalt and 400t of open stone asphalt. These are not standard products manufactured at Express Doncaster, but can be produced through technical development, so we worked closely with Hesselberg Hydro to produce samples for approval and assure the customer that the tight specifications and delivery schedules could be met. The materials were delivered to schedule and supplied in line with the customer’s requirements.”
